Joseph

Journey with Joseph from his childhood in Canaan, where he was the favorite of 12 sons, to Egypt, where he rose from being a slave to the favored servant of the Pharaoh.  Sold by his own brothers to slave traders and empowered above all others in Egypt by the Pharaoh, Joseph was a gifted man who inspired great love and extreme jealousy.  Explore with us how Joseph's connection to God made him a great leader and the difficult lessons he learned along the way.

Theme:  Leadership
Bible Point:  GOD wants us to follow him, so that we may lead others.

 Workshops

  • Cooking.  Sit down at our table with Joseph's brothers as they are reunited in Egypt.  We will be making hummus and reliving Joseph's encounter with the brothers who betrayed him and their eventual reconciliation.
  • Crafts.  Listen to a boastful young Joseph tell his family of his dreams of greatness.  We will be making a Windsock of Many Colors and learn how Joseph's favored status in his family made him arrogant and inspired jealousy.
  • Games.  Watch in horror as Joseph is betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery.  We will be playing pictionary using words and images from the story of Joseph and talking about how Joseph's spiritual gifts were a source of great blessings and difficult problems.
  • Multimedia.  Follow Joseph's rise from a slave in Egypt to an inspired leader who saves the country from famine.  We will be watching excerpts from Joseph, King of Dreams  and learning how his strong connection to God led him out of turmoil and taught him to lead justly, humbly, and mercifully.
